# Recovera Privacy Policy **Effective date:** 2 August 2026 **App:** Recovera **Production package:** `com.simplerecovery.recovera` **Publisher:** `MSTok` **Privacy contact:** `polosann@gmail.com` This Privacy Policy explains how Recovera handles information when you use the Recovera Android application. Recovera is a local-first file recovery utility: its core scan, preview, copy, history, and Safe Bin workflows are designed to run on the device. The publisher fields above must be completed before this policy is published. Do not publish this draft with placeholders. ## 1. Information Recovera processes on the device When you grant access and start a scan, Recovera may process: - the photos, videos, audio, and documents that Android exposes through the access you granted; - file metadata needed to list and classify results, such as display name, MIME type, size, modified time, image dimensions, video duration, and Android content URI; - previews or thumbnails needed to show a result before you copy it; - the destination URI and copy outcome when you create a recovered copy; - Safe Bin copies and their local metadata when you intentionally protect a file through Recovera. This information is stored in app-private local storage, Room, DataStore, or a local image cache as appropriate. Recovera does not upload file contents, filenames, content URIs, thumbnails, scan results, recovery history, or Safe Bin contents to the publisher or to a Recovera cloud service. Recovera does not operate a user account system. Recovera only scans the media categories and document folders that you allow. Documents are accessed through Android’s system folder picker; the selected folder grant can be revoked in Android settings. ## 2. Android permissions and access Recovera may request the following permissions, depending on your Android version and the choices you make: - **Photos and videos:** to list and preview accessible images and videos. - **Audio:** to list and preview accessible audio files. - **Selected visual media:** on supported Android versions, to work with only the photos or videos you selected. - **Selected document folders:** through Android’s Storage Access Framework folder picker, to scan files in a folder you explicitly choose. - **Notifications:** optional permission used for cancellable progress notifications during long scans or copy operations. - **Foreground data-sync service:** used by Android to keep an active scan or copy operation running with visible progress. Recovera does not request camera, microphone, contacts, location, phone, SMS, or Android all-files access (`MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE`). You can deny, limit, revoke, or change media and notification access in Android settings. If access is denied or revoked, the corresponding scan or preview may be unavailable. ## 3. Recovery, Safe Bin, and sharing Recovera creates a new copy in a destination selected by the app’s storage rules; it does not delete, move, or alter the source file. A failed incomplete destination is removed where Android permits it. Safe Bin protects only copies that you intentionally add through Recovera. It cannot intercept files deleted by other apps. Deleting a Safe Bin item removes its app-private protected copy and local record. A copy that you previously restored to shared storage is a separate file and must be managed or deleted through Android or another file manager. Recovery history and scan results can be cleared from Recovera’s Privacy & permissions screen. Clearing preview cache removes Recovera’s local preview cache. Uninstalling Recovera normally removes its app-private database, preferences, cache, and Safe Bin files. Files that Recovera copied to shared storage may remain on the device and are not automatically removed by this policy or by the app. Recovera disables Android backup and device transfer for its private database and app files; this does not control backups or sharing performed by Android or other apps for files in shared storage. If you open or share a recovered copy with another Android app, that action is initiated by you. The receiving app’s privacy policy and permissions then apply. ## 4. Advertising and Google services When advertising is enabled in a release, Recovera uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK and Google’s User Messaging Platform for: - a large anchored adaptive banner on Home; - an interstitial after a completed recovery flow, when an ad is available; - an App Open ad after a qualified return to Home, when an ad is available; - consent and ad-choice handling where required. The Google Mobile Ads SDK may automatically collect and share technical and usage information such as IP address, app and ad interactions, diagnostic information, Android Advertising ID, App Set ID, and other device or account identifiers. IP address may be used to estimate a device’s general location. Google uses this information for advertising, measurement, analytics associated with ads, and fraud prevention. Recovera does not add file contents, filenames, content URIs, thumbnails, scan results, or Safe Bin records to its ad requests. Where required, Google’s consent form is shown before ads are requested. Your choices and device controls can affect whether ads are personalized, non-personalized, or limited. Ads may still require technical information to deliver the ad and protect the service. Google’s handling of this information is governed by [Google’s Privacy Policy](https://policies.google.com/privacy) and the [Google Mobile Ads SDK data disclosure](https://developers.google.com/admob/android/privacy/play-data-disclosure). Recovera does not use a separate first-party analytics, crash-reporting, or advertising profile service. The Google Mobile Ads SDK remains a third-party service with its own data practices. ## 5. Data sharing and sale Recovera does not sell your file contents or local recovery data. Recovera does not share your scanned media, document contents, filenames, content URIs, thumbnails, or Safe Bin contents with the publisher, Google, advertisers, or other third parties through a Recovera upload service. The limited third-party sharing described in this policy is the technical and usage data processed by Google Mobile Ads when ads are enabled, and any sharing you initiate by opening or sending a recovered copy to another app. The publisher may also disclose information when required by applicable law or to protect rights, safety, and security. ## 6. Data retention and deletion Local scan results, recovery history, preferences, folder grants, and Safe Bin metadata remain on the device until you clear them in Recovera, revoke access, remove Safe Bin items, clear app data, or uninstall the app. Preview caches can be cleared separately. Google and its advertising partners retain ad-related data according to their own policies and controls. Because Recovera does not maintain accounts, there is no Recovera account profile to close. To request privacy assistance or ask about data handled by the publisher, contact the privacy email listed at the top of this policy. You can also use Android settings to revoke permissions or clear Recovera’s app data. ## 7. Security Recovera limits file access to Android permissions and folder grants you provide, processes core recovery operations locally, and keeps its database, preferences, previews, and Safe Bin files in app-controlled storage. Recovera does not claim that any storage system is risk-free. Network traffic used by Google advertising and consent services is handled by those providers under their security and privacy practices. ## 8. Children Recovera is a general-purpose file utility and is not designed specifically for children. The publisher does not knowingly request children to submit personal information through a Recovera account, because Recovera has no account system. If you believe a child has provided personal information to the publisher, contact the privacy email listed above. ## 9. Changes to this policy The publisher may update this Privacy Policy when Recovera’s functionality, third-party services, or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top will be updated when a new version is published. Material changes should be communicated through the app or the public policy page where practical. ## 10.
